Allen Cowling's Personal Webpage

Personal Background

  • I was born in January, 1948, I am 58 years old, 6' 3" tall, 215 pounds and very active.

  • I was an adopted child, born in Virginia, and lived there until I enlisted in the Navy. I currently reside in Jackson, Mississippi and have since 1974.

  • I spent 4 years with the U. S. Navy and was discharged in 1968. Served my first year as an honor guard on "Old Ironsides," the U.S.S. Constitution in Boston, MA, then served as a base police officer in Morocco, Africa for 2 years and spent my final year aboard an oiler.

  • After leaving the Navy, I worked as a private investigator for one year and as investigator for a criminal attorney for three years, where I gained an interest in attending law school.

  • I had planned to attend law school at night in Birmingham, AL, but when I missed the semester, I accepted a position as operations manager for an ambulance company in Montgomery, Alabama. I was one of the first licensed EMT's in Alabama.

  • After managing the ambulance company in Alabama for a year, I accepted a position with a company in Mississippi, where I was responsible for updating county ambulance services to comply with the 1974 Emergency Medical Act.

  • I continued working with emergency medical services until I began my current business in Jackson, Mississippi in 1975.

Hobbies

  • I enjoy a wide variety of hobbies including competing in martial arts, tennis, bowling, shooting pool, motorcycling, swimming, roller skating, snow skiing, softball, football, camping, fishing, singing, gourmet cooking, traveling, computer programming, designing and building computers and networks, teaching and writing and singing. I recorded two songs in Nashville years ago, not to promote or sell, just for the pleasure of doing it. I absolutely love theme parks such as Disney and 6-Flags. This is one kid that will never grow up.

  • I am a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and the proud owner of:

    • A 2005, black cherry, fully chromed Harley Davidson Softail with a 95 motor kit. I keep this bike mainly for a friend, an ex-client, who flies down and rides with me.

    • A 2006, cobalt blue and silver, fully chromed Harley Davidson Ultra Classic with a 103 Screaming Eagle motor kit. I use this bike for road trips.

    • A 2007, black and silver Screaming Eagle Harley Davidson Dyna, fully chromed with a 110 motor. This bike is used only for local running around.

  • Yes, I know, who needs three motorcycles, but you know what they say about men and their toys! I always enjoy talking with other Harley owners. You meet some of the nicest people imaginable. I would also like to "plug" Harley Davidson of Jackson, Mississippi. Without question the people there are the greatest. They give a new meaning to the name, "Waffle House."

  • Traveling on a motorcycle opens up an entire new world. I have ridden all over Florida, with the best destinations being Orlando and Key West. I rode across North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, crossed the 27-mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, up through Delaware, caught the ferry in Lewes, Delaware to New Jersey, and then rode up to Atlantic City. On my return, I rode through the Blueridge Mountains in Virginia and around Washington, D.C. In 2003, I rode to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Harley Davidson 100th anniversary and in 2005, I rode to Sturgis, South Dakota, then to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Yellow Stone National Park. Riding is always an adventure and one that you cannot experience from a car, such as the Blueridge parkway in Virginia, the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and the Natchez Trace Parkway. I try to take at least two major rides a year. The scenery and the food is great and, as I said, you meet some of the nicest people you could possibly imagine. Talk about a stress relief from work! This is it.

Occupation Data

  • I have been a private investigator for more than 36 years and, in 1989, I began to specialize in defending clients who had been falsely accused of abuse, assisting in overturning convictions that resulted from a false allegation and in legal malpractice cases where attorneys who represented the falsely accused were negligent.

  • Over a span of the last 36 years, I have conducted numerous seminars and have written three books and a "Private Investigator's Training Manual."

  • Please note, I said that I defend the "falsely accused." Occasionally I get an email asking how I can defend anyone who abused a child. I do not. Unlike most attorneys, I can select my cases. I tell any prospective client they do not want to retain me if they are guilty. If I find that they are, I am gone and so is what they paid me. I use a testing facility in Atlanta where clients are evaluated over a 4-day period, consisting of drug screens, polygraph, psychological and sexual preference. I will not represent anyone who hurt or abused a child for any reason.

  • For a more detailed explanation of exactly what I do, you can visit my company webpage. The links are provided at the bottom of this page.

  • I have been in private practice in Jackson, Mississippi since 1975, and, since 1989, I have traveled extensively throughout the world, representing clients. I average flying about 150,000 miles a year and am fortunate if I am home 2 or 3 days a month.

  • I have an extremely bad habit of burying myself in my work and especially those cases where clients are facing what appears to be impossible odds. There is no better satisfaction than taking a situation that appears to have no solution, reversing the circumstances and giving my client their life back.

  • I make enemies frequently in my work because I am not a politician and have absolutely no problem going after anyone when conducting an investigation, regardless of who they are. Very simply put, when I work for a client, I work for them.

  • I am very straight forward and blunt. I say exactly what I mean and mean what I say. The truth sometimes offends. I never mean to do that, but I simply won't pacify with a lie about anything.

Pet Peeves

  • I have only two major complaints and both petain to my work. One is that occasionally I get an email from someone who asks, "How can you defend a child molester?" I do not defend child molesters. I tell any prospective client they should not retain me if they are guilty. I carefully explain that if they are, I will find out and, if I do, I will cease all work and they automatically forfeit any and all fees they have paid.
