• Child Custody investigations. As in divorce matters, we do not conduct surveillance, but will consult and work with a client in an effort to assure that their attempt to gain the custody of their child does not result in their being falsely accused of sexual abuse. • Murder, suicide and wrongful death investigations. On several occasions, investigative efforts determined that what was reported as, or believed to be, suicide was actually murder. We have seen numerous incidents where authorities have "rubber stamped" a death as suicide, even when circumstances indicate that it was not. There can be nothing more frustrating for any family than to lose a loved one and be told the death was a suicide when they have every reason to believe otherwise. See Wrongful Death Investigations.

• Adoption investigations. The most important issue in these cases is, what happens when the natural parent is located? The best approach is for us to attempt and arrange a meeting. That is far less stressful to any natural parent than simply receiving a telephone call or a surprise visit from a child that they may not have seen for 20 years. Keep in mind that there are some parents who do not want the fact that they ever had a child known, so in many cases, setting up a meeting is as difficult as locating the parent. I know of one specific case where the child went directly to their natural parent, knocked on the door and identified themself. The parent had a heart attack on the spot and died. The sad truth is that the parent may not share the child's desire to be found, so the approach must be handled properly for all parties concerned.
